INNOVATION FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY EFFICIENCY SOLUTIONS IN MEDITERRANEAN REGIONS AND CITIES - An overview of achieved results
MED program, committed to a more sustainable Mediterranean, region, organized a conference on innovation that exists in the energy-saving solutions in the region of Mediterranean (Innovation for renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions in Mediterranean regions and cities), as well as presented an overview of the results achieved in this area. The conference took place on 28th, June in Brussels.
Mediterranean is region with a great potential in renewable energy resources, while simultaneously having the lowest levels of energy efficiency, comparing to other European regions. During the period of 2007-2013, Med program actively dealt with all the above issues in all the activities developed in 28 different transnational cooperation projects that have worked in 13 countries.
The regions and cities in the Mediterranean area have developed skills in increasing the use of renewable energy sources and addressing energy efficiency achievement challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions, fostering new economic opportunities.
The Conference «Innovation for renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions in Mediterranean regions and cities», which took place within the European Sustainable Energy Week 2015, intended to give a complete and accurate picture of what has been done to date in implementing technical solutions to energy issues and the harmonization of standards in different countries.
Regarding the results up to date, have emerged from common concerns developed by the partners involved in the various projects and their solutions have come from a broad cooperation bodies such as Universities, Public Institutions, Energy Management Agencies, financial institutions etc.
In the above context, moreover given the opportunity to present the main results achieved through various energy projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Executives of “SYNERGASIA Ltd" attended the event in order to gain a full and accurate picture of what has been done until today, regarding the implementation of technical solutions and standards’ harmonization, to achieve energy saving in the Mediterranean region.
MED Program is preparing new activities for the period 2014-2020, taking for granted what has been achieved until today and creating motivation for the development of each activity with their integration in new projects.
